Medusa Workflow
The project follows a structured process: the Observatory identifies and monitors relevant
contemporary plays; selected texts are then evaluated and chosen for the project. These works
are translated to facilitate international circulation, presented to audiences through readings and
mini-festivals, and finally shared more widely through publications and dissemination activities.
Observatory
The project begins with a shared observatory in Italy, Germany, and Bulgaria, aimed at identifying contemporary plays that reflect the themes of MEDUSA. Through research and dialogue among experts, each country selects significant texts connected to inclusive identities, social change, and contemporary dramaturgy.
Translation
The selected plays are translated into the project languages in order to support their circulation across different cultural contexts. Translation is understood not only as a technical process, but as a creative and essential step in making new voices accessible to wider European audiences.
Mini-Festivals
The translated texts are presented during mini-festivals in Berlin, Sofia and Naples. These events combine staged readings, public discussions, and exchanges between artists, translators, students, and audiences, creating spaces for encounter and dialogue around the selected works.
Publication
The project concludes with the online publication of the selected plays and related materials, ensuring a long-term dissemination of the project’s outcomes. In this way, MEDUSA extends the life of the texts beyond the live events and contributes to their wider visibility within the European cultural landscape.
